Gaining some traction
So I had an audition for Southland on NBC a few days ago (Monday) and got the call from my agent that I booked the show so this week started out on a good note. Then yesterday I found out that my audition for CBS’ Comedy Development team went well enough that they’d like to see me again tomorrow. I get to have a longer session with them where I can pitch some sketch and character ideas for their upcoming pilot season. I’m excited but woefully unprepared for the meeting. I used to do a lot more character stuff when I was doing more improv and sketch stuff a couple years ago. I’m trying to rehash some ideas in my brain and some voices etc. I’m working on it but I can already tell a lot of these voices and characters are buried too deep in the closet of my mind to remember really accurately. I’ll do my best and focus on my strengths and anything that needs to be workshopped probably won’t make it to this meeting tomorrow. Let’s hope I can make a good showing.
Good news is that we’re finally getting some traction now. Since the Middle Eastern Comedy Festival, which went very well by the way, I’ve booked one major tv show and have a very important callback. I’m still leaving for Beirut next month and I’m waiting for a check from the print ad I did last month in Utah. I think I might actually be able to pay my credit card bill before the holidays if this keeps up. Then again between Groundlings classes and the UCB coaches I’m sure I’ll just break even.
All motivation to just work harder.
